Investing In Ethanol - Yes, No, Maybe

With the cost of energy sources sky-rocketing and everyone talking about the cost of gasoline and alternative fuel options, investing becomes more and more complicated.

Ethanol prices were on the rise over the last few month's, however now that gasoline prices are going down will this affect the price of ethanol as well?

One analyst makes it known that just because the cost of gasoline has gone down over the past few weeks does not mean that it will not go back up in the coming month's, we have to keep in mind about the Iran controversy as well as any natural disasters that could contribute to the rise again or any excuse that the 'Big Oil Companies' can come up with to raise the cost of gasoline for that matter.

Basically, we are only one headline away from the gas prices sky-rocketing all over again. So what does this mean for ethanol investors? The push is on for alternative fuel sources - ethanol, e85, and biodiesel seem to be the ones that are obtainable the quickest. Hydrogen powered vehicles are still on the far horizon but researchers are making great strides in the development of hydrogen powered vehicles.

Right now in the USA there are 102 operating ethanol facilities with 43 ethanol production facilities under construction. With President Bush's push for alternative fuel along with many Senators across the country including Senator Dick Lugar(IN) will only keep the alternative fuel research going strong.

Another thing to keep in mind is who is investing in ethanol? Did you know that Bill Gates just invested $84 million in the California based Pacific Ethanol Company? Bill Gates do I need say more - I would have to be sure that the richest man in the world has done his homework on ethanol - after all he does not like to lose money! With Bill Gates involvement people are really taking even more notice as to the value ethanol has on this planet.

Another surprise was when Richard Branson - Virgin Records Mogul has invested in ethanol as well.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 is a renewable fuel standard that will require the use of renewable fuels of 7.5 billion gallon by 2012. Currently, the United States is producing about 3.9 billion gallons.

The leading global financial firm J.P. Morgan & Co. gave mention to two major players in the ethanol production arena, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and Pacific Ethanol (PEIX).

If you are thinking about investing in ethanol I urge you to get professional advice before investing your life savings. Find an investment firm that handles that type of investment. Research, research, and do more research about ethanol for yourself and stay away for all the get rich quick in ethanol scams that are out there.

Alternative fuels are here right now and are going to be a thing of our future, but remember that any wise investment company will tell you 'Not to put all of your eggs in one basket'. LISTEN!
